*MY DEAREST UTM..

UTM's view from the top of Balai Cerap

Last Sunday I went up the hill to Balai Cerap (look out point) UTM with Ajak. It's been approx. 3 years since the last time I went there, and 7 years for Ajak. It's surely brought our minds back to the time when we were still studying.. The time where we cycled/walked/borrowed my sis's car, just to get to the top and have a bird's eyes view of our beloved UTM.

We also spent some time driving around UTM, to places yang dah lama tak dijenguk by us, especially when I left for UK. What a difference a year made..!! The Uni has totally transformed into a place that I don't recognised. There were new colleges (last time, there were only 6 colleges, now there were almost 20!!), new buildings and not to be forgotten, the much much improved facilities. Imagine, we have the wireless connection everywhere in the Uni now and some of the hostels have provided rooms with air-cond!! The rooms were sooo nice. Apartment-like, complete with hall, etc. :) I'm so proud of u, UTM..!! The students are so very lucky..

Some facts and figures about Universiti Teknologi Malaysia:
:: UTM has two campuses, namely the 1,222 - hectare main campus in Skudai, Johor that is about 18 kilometers from the city of Johor Bahru, and 14 kilometers from the Sultan Ismail Airport, Senai. Another campus, an 18 - hectare branch campus, is situated at Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur. This campus is also known as City Campus.

:: This is the official logo of UTM, bearing the official colours of the University. Maroon symbolises not only the essential traits of the Malay race maturity but also the fundamental characteristics of the nation. Gold symbolises high standards as well as of the noble values.

THE OPEN BOOK in gold symbolises the Holy Qur'an, the source of knowledge.
THE GOLDEN CIRCLE symbolises the magnificent universe entrusted upon mankind by his Creator.
THE ROUND-BOTTOM FLASK is a symbol of Science which forms the basis of Technology.
THE CRESCENT is the symbol of Islam.

*SO MANY WORK TO DO LAAA...

1040 :: Editing a report that is supposed to be submitted long long time ago.. *sigh*

1043 :: Disturbed by a phone call made by Ajak..

1044 :: Continue my unfinished business.. Got to finish it before noon to make room for my lecture prep this afternoon.

1104 :: Two students entered my room without even knocking the door. And the sad thing was, these two students were GIRLS and also MUSLIMS. Didn't they know how to give Salam anymore??? Since they were quite rude (I strongly believe so), I didn't give my 100% attention to them. Just continue doing my work.

1140 :: Dr. KBT knocked on the door and asked about his conclusion for the report that he sent to me earlier this morning. Told him that the conclusion was OK (I didn't really read it to be honest :P) and I'll check the English later (I know, I know.. Me myself need someone to help me with English :()

1141 :: Just about to continue the editing, Dr. KBT entered my room again to discuss about his conclusion. *sigh* Can't he wait??!! Managed to halau him and promised to discuss the conclusion after I finish my report editing.

1230 :: Took a break and went through KBT's conclusion. Just minor corrections on grammar. I'm so b****y tired!!!!!

1241 :: A student just called me "akak". Hmm.. must take a course on how to dress/look like a lecturer. ;p

1255 :: A student entered the room to take his exam papers. AND asking for a full mark for the assignments. Never, in my world, have I asked my lecturers for that.

1313 :: I'm experiencing slight dizziness. Probably too much time spent staring at the monitor. Got to take a real break..

1343 :: Not taking a break really. Managed to finish the editing job at last...

*THAIPUSAM FESTIVAL IN MALAYSIA

What I know about Thaipusam (pliz correct if I'm wrong):
:: One of the most important religious festivals for Hindus in Malaysia and certainly the most fascinating one.
:: A day of consecration to the Hindu deity, Lord Murugan, sometimes also called Lord Subramaniam.
:: Thousands of devotees carry offerings pierced onto their bodies -- and feel no pain.
:: The penitents - who pierce their cheeks, ears and other fleshy appendages - are joined by supporters who drum and
chant to keep up their morale.

Hmm.. Ini je yang I know about Thaipusam.. I must admit, I'm not very good in cultures. Even the Malay wedding ceremony pun tak expert lagi. :p

Anyway,
::SELAMAT MENYAMBUT THAIPUSAM KEPADA SEMUA PENGANUT HINDU DI MALAYSIA::
